Nick Terlizzi

Eastview Lightning

Nick's friendly and outgoing and you can tell by his smile he loves being on the training floor at Total Hockey South Metro.  Nick, a first year PeeWee for the Eastview Lightning impresses the staff with his consistent work effort.
When Nick comes to Total Hockey South Metro he is focused and can't wait to get going on the skating ramp and exceeding his personal best time.   Nick will be first to say his skills are improving based on the repetition and instruction he obtains at Total Hockey.  Nick has been training at Total Hockey South Metro for the last two years and this past off-season he participated in the August Program, Pre-Tryout Camp and Flex Training.
Nick credits his work last year at Total Hockey South Metro which contributed to his moving up to Squirt A level.

Nick said this about his training at Total Hockey South Metro:
The Total Hockey instructors work you hard and encourage you while pushing you to become better. I like all the instructors at Total Hockey.  I like Total Hockey because it challenges me in my skating, stick handling and shooting. Each station helps me improve my skills. I feel each time I am on the ice or off ice program from Total Hockey I have an opportunity to learn.

Keep up the great work during the Flex Trainng and Good Luck in Tryouts!

Brien Kamper

Eagan Wildcats

His quiet demeanor allows him to blend in with the crowd and if it was not for his hard work Brien could easily be overlooked on the training floor at Total Hockey South Metro. Brien, a second year PeeWee for the Eagan Wildcats, constantly impresses the staff with his consistent effort. Every moment that Brien is at Total Hockey South Metro he is focused on the task at hand and his skills are beginning to equal his focus. Brien has been training at Total Hockey for several years and this past off-season he participated in August Program and our Pre-Tryout Camp. Brien said this about his training at Total Hockey South Metro:

It has been great to get to know other players and the instructors at Total Hockey. The instructors provide a fun environment to improve and develop my hockey talent. The recent changes were initially pretty tough. I am glad I have been given the opportunity to learn from Total Hockey. The Total Hockey instructors helped me bring my skill level to the next level.

July 2008 Player of the Month

Goodmanson07_medium

 Ryan Goodmanson

After coming off of a very successful season with the Minnesota Ice Hawks of the Minnesota Junior Hockey League, Ryan Goodmanson was looking to take his game to the next level and try his hand in the Junior A Tier II ranks and Ryan chose Total Hockey – South Metro to help him.

Ryan, a native of Clear Lake, WI, helped lead the Ice Hawks to regular season and playoff championships and a National Tournament appearance in the 2007-08 season.  He also accumulated 41 goals and 68 assists in 46 regular season games for a league leading 109 total points.

Even with all of his success, Ryan knew the road to next level would not be easy and has been committed to his goals since he began training with Total Hockey – South Metro two to three times per week in May.  Ryan chose Total Hockey – South Metro because he was looking for a place where he could train and develop his skills at a high level so he could further his hockey career.  Although his training with Total Hockey is far from over, he had this to say about his training thus far:

The program for me has been a huge success, it exceeded all of my expectations.  Doing Total Hockey has made me a more skilled player.  My goals for the summer were to get stronger and faster.  Total Hockey has done that and more.  I love the SpeedRamp, it is definitely the most fun to do, but also is the easiest to tell if you have been improving.  Part of the programs success, in my eyes, is because of the trainers you have there every day pushing you to improve and helping you achieve your goals.

The gains Ryan has made through his dedication have not gone unnoticed.  Ryan has recently committed to play with the Kenai River Brown Bears of the NAHL for the 2008-09 season.  This will no doubt be the first of many goals Ryan achieves in his life and The Total Hockey Staff would like to say Congratulations Ryan, YOU have EARNED IT.

George Donovan

St Paul Highland

It is George’s work ethic while on the training floor and his consistent effort all summer long which have earned him the recognition of Total Hockey Player of the Month. George has regularly been participating in the Flex Training Program at Total Hockey South Metro since early Spring and his efforts are truly beginning to pay of for him. He is a stronger skater, a better shooter, and a more confident puck handler than he was three months ago. George came to Total Hockey with the intent to spend the summer preparing for his next season of hockey and this is what he had to say about his experience this summer:
"Total Hockey has been a lot of fun.   The reason I signed up for Total Hockey is I wanted to work on my shooting, quickness, vision, and stick handling.  I have improved in all those areas.  The people that work at Total Hockey are fun.  I like the instructors; they push you to do your best.   They also give you individual attention to explain how to improve.  I'm excited for tryouts to start so I can really see how I have improved."
With only a few weeks left before the tryouts begin, we expect to continue to see George a few times a week so he can get the most out of his off-season and go into try-outs an even better player than he is today.

GOOD LUCK IN TRYOUTS GEORGE, KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

Katie_larson_2_large

Katie Larson

In comparison to other players her age Katie Larson of Apple Valley is fairly new to the sport of hockey. Yet it would be difficult for most people to tell that she has only played for two years. Katie’s consistent training efforts have helped her to quickly catch up to the other girls her age that have been playing the game for a much longer time. Katie has trained with Total Hockey South Metro since the beginning of the hockey season and has come a very long way with both her puck and skating skills since she began training with us in the Fall of 2007.

Katie’s mother describes why Katie continues to train with Total Hockey – South Metro for her off-season training program:

Katie finished her second season of hockey this past season and she really wanted to continue to work on improving her hockey skills. She started coming to Total Hockey 2-3 times a week and loves it. It’s been fun to watch her improve in all of the areas that Total Hockey has been training her in. I have also noticed a huge boost of confidence in her

Katie’s determination and commitment to be the best she can be will have her surpassing her teammates on the ice in no time. If she continues to work with the consistent effort she has shown since we first met her, Katie will be turning a lot heads on the ice in tryouts this fall.

Kirby McPhee

In preparing for his first season as a Bantam in the Eastview Hockey Association, Kirby McPhee has been to at least one Flex Training session per week at Total Hockey since the beginning of March.  Kirby has been committed to improving his skills since the end of his 2007-08 hockey season and shows no signs of slowing down.  His best asset on the Total Hockey training floor has been his great attitude.  Kirby never has a negative thing to say and is always one of the hardest working kids in the building.  Kirby has already made great advancements in his skill development and if he can continue with his training regiment, Kirby will surely see a great improvement next season when he hits the ice for tryouts.

Kirby’s parents had this to say about why they chose Total Hockey for Kirby’s off season training:

Upon completion of his 2007-2008 hockey season, Kirby was looking to continue his skills training.  Kirby enjoys the flexibility of the Flex Training; sometimes working out 3 to 4 times a week.  The environment at Total Hockey is very friendly; the staff takes a genuine interest in a player’s personal development.  Flex training allows Kirby the ability to pinpoint certain areas of development and set future goals that are measurable and obtainable.

April 2008 Player of the Month

Jack_piram_large

Jack Piram

Jack Piram is coming off of a great PeeWee season and will be a first year Bantam in Edina next season. Jack has participated in our Flex Training Program at least once a week since December. We have had the pleasure to work even more frequently with Jack during the month of March; he even plans to continue his consistent training through his busy Baseball schedule this spring.

Jack is a quiet, hard working young man who has committed to hockey specific skill training because he has seen the results and what they can do for you in games. Gary Piram, Jack’s father, has recognized the benefits as well and said, “Since starting Total Hockey Flex training in December, every aspect of Jack’s game has improved. His skating, stick handling, balance and shots have all gotten stronger.”

As for Jack, he had this to say about Total Hockey Training, “I like Total Hockey because its cool and everyone is really nice! I get to work on lots of different things. It helps me in games because I can skate faster, and get the puck more and score more goals. Total Hockey is fun and I’ll probably come here through my high school years. I’m looking forward to the summer training clinic.”

We are also looking forward to being able with Jack during our summer program because we are excited to see the improvements he will continue to make with his great work ethic and attitude toward training.

Sierra Vadner began participating in Total Hockey’s Flex Training program three years ago while still playing for the Apple Valley Girls High School team.  For the past three years she has continued to train with Total Hockey in the Flex Program, one on one training, and team training with the Minnesota Thoroughbreds.  Sierra is currently playing for the Minnesota Thoroughbreds and had this to say about what she has gained from Total Hockey, “Total Hockey has really helped me develop my talents as a hockey player. My strengths have improved and my weaknesses have been lessened. My shot has gotten harder and my split vision while handling the puck has greatly improved. I have more confidence while moving the puck up the ice.”

Sierra has truly dedicated herself to development and achieving her goals as a hockey player which is part of the reason she trains at Total Hockey.  “The thing I most enjoy about Total Hockey is the motivation I get to work hard and make myself a better hockey player. The instructors push me to do everything at my highest ability.”  Her hard work has not gone unnoticed in the hockey world; she has already compiled a list of accolades to put on her hockey resume.    Not only has she participated in the National Development Camp, the CODP for 4 years, and the MN Hockey Advance 15 Festival, but she will be continuing her hockey career at the Division I Level next season at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York.

Jimmy_douglas_large

Jimmy Douglas

Jimmy first started training at Total Hockey – Eagan in the spring of 2007 with his brother Tyler.  After having a great time in the spring and showing signs of improvement, Jimmy continued training during the summer using a Flex Pass and also signed up for the Pre-Tryout On-Ice and Off-Ice program.  Jimmy’s hard work paid off and he made the Eastview Squirt A team and has been an effective contributor on both offense and defense.  Jimmy’s father Jim had this to say about his experience at Total Hockey, "Since joining the Total Hockey training program last spring, I have noticed a tremendous improvement in my son's fundamental skills.  The instructors do an excellent job teaching and reinforcing the proper techniques.  I would recommend Total Hockey to any parent looking the help their kids become better hockey players."

Jimmy is a great example of what can be accomplished by a player that is willing to work hard and commit himself to training with Total Hockey in our fun, positive and challenging programs that deliver results.  Good luck the rest of the year Jimmy!
